Community involvement is a big part of who we are here at North Oaks. Our members love to volunteer in the local community. If you are looking for a way to make a difference, get plugged in with our Community Involvement ministry. Below are a few of our recent projects. Don’t see something you’d like to do here? We are always looking for more ways to get involved…so share your ideas and join in the fun!
Help the Child
This organization assists families in the SCV with food and clothing. Our primary assistance is with food collection. We have a container in the foyer for such food and personal items. We also ask for food and personal items from customers at the Food for Less off of Soledad twice a year (usually March-April and September).
Family Promise is a non-profit group which assists homeless families. We are part of a group churches here in the SCV that is supporting Family Promise. Family Promise uses our former parsonage as an office and training center. North Oaks is hosting homeless families in our facility for four weeks each year and the parsonage will be in use 7 days a week from 7am -- 5pm.
Santa Clarita Valley Pregnancy Center
We participate in the Baby Bottle Fund Raiser which offers alternatives to abortions, prenatal care and reproduction education. The Baby Bottle Fund Raiser runs from Mother's Day to Father's Day. We usually have the highest percentage of returned bottles of any church in town.
River Rally Clean Up
This service activity is put on by the City of Santa Clarita and occurs in September. Our congregation signs up as a group each year to help clean up the SCV river bed.
Make a Difference Day
This service activity is also put on by the City of Santa Clarita and occurs in October.
California Health Care (Skilled Nursing Facility in Van Nuys)
Dave Bore serves the people in this heath care center every week with a worship service. The people there are uplifted and happy that Dave, with others, encourages and uplifts them in spirit and fellowship.
Manuelito Navajo Children's Home
Manuelito Navajo Children's Home is located to the west of Gallup, New Mexico. For over 50 years, MNCH has been providing care to children and families in need, particularly to the children of the Navajo Nation. They provide a place of safety, stability, and spirituality to Navajo children from Kindergarten to the 12th grade. Their goal is to help raise these children to be adults who are hard-working, responsible, filled with potential, who celebrate our Lord Jesus with faith and good works.
